Student Code of Conduct
:
Students at CHSS are encouraged to think about and be responsible for their own behaviours.
Students and adults at CHSS are expected to demonstrate:
RESPECT
- for the rights and dignity of others
- for the dignity of self
- for the property of school and others
RESPONSIBILITY
- for their own behaviour, regarding school and classroom rules
- for their own work, completed on time, to the best of their ability
SAFETY
- for self and others
Students at CHSS are given the responsibility of knowing the rules, following the rules, and managing their own behaviour.
When rules are broken, staff members will issue consequences for students which logically suit the misbehaviour and focus on "making it right".
Learning from one's mistakes and changing inappropriate behaviours, not punishment, are the goals of all interventions by the staff at CHSS. Every effort is made by staff members to use a problem solving approach to changing inappropriate behaviours.
At CHSS the staff instructs students on how to solve problems independently, as much as possible.
